Uniparty: Immigration Charade

Immigration has a simple, enforceable fix mostly ignored by both political parties for decades: require every employer in the United States to run every new hire through E‑Verify. E‑Verify is a federal, online system that confirms whether a worker is authorized to work in the U.S.; where it’s already mandatory, it reduces unauthorized employment and raises incentives for legal migration. Extending universal E‑Verify would close a major pull factor for illegal immigration, protect wages for U.S. workers, and shift hiring toward documented labor—reducing exploitation and fiscal costs. Opponents cite fraud and administrative costs; both are manageable compared with the economic and human toll of unmanaged migration. Making employers accountable aligns incentives, cuts criminal networks’ profits, and restores the rule of law—all with a single, enforceable requirement.

Only 23 states require it in some form but just three of those require subjecting all hires. North Carolina for example doesn't require E-Verify for employers with fewer than 25 employees. The mean and median number of employees for a small business is 20 -25 and 5-10 respectively. 27 states have no E-Verify requirements at all and California prohibits its use where it can, including state contracts with no federal money. Why? - money and power.

With America v5.0 we all see the direct costs and all pay with the same percentage of our income. Instead of making fortunes from abused illegal workers, aside from winning elections by selfishly holding onto a campaign issue to elicit passion stoked partisanship on both sides, in place of knowing the status quo results in thousands murdered, raped, sex trafficked, and robbed in their journey here, we will establish a principled policy for immigration. We will prioritize a principled solution as the cost is clear and shared equally. It, as with so many issues under A5.0, will not be seen as somebody else's problem.
